Special Olympics Regional Aquatics Carnival May 2007
On Saturday 5 May 2007, Olivier sponsored the Special Olympics Regional Aquatics Carnival - Short Course, held at the Ryde Aquatic Centre. Not only were we fortunate to sponsor the event, Olivier donated the time of our two Directors, Bob and Helen Olivier, as well as several staff members to act as time marshals for the day.




Before we got started, we were paired up with another time keeper and given a lane and attended the briefing on what our roles entailed and how the day would be run, then the real fun began! With over 80 races to be held and over 150 competitors to manage, it was amazing how fast the day actually went, but the huge smiles and happy faces made it easy! With Ian Hyman as our announcer, Team Otis managing the Marshalling Area, Olivier Group, SAS and Swim NSW recording times as well as the many other people working hard behind the scenes, the event was extremely well organised and ran like clockwork.




With the Lions Club keeping us well-fuelled for the day organising and running a BBQ lunch and cold drinks the Olivier Team needed only to enjoy the day and cheer on our competitors, whilst keeping an eye on our stopwatches! We all had a great day, and look forward to supporting again in 2008.
Netball Tournament
On Sunday 17th of September, Olivier sponsored the Institute of Chartered Accountants Netball Tournament. As well as sponsoring the event, Olivier entered a team made up of the Directors (Helen & Bob Olivier), staff members and netball pros.
Perhaps due to our intensive training session before the event, Olivier's team made it through to the Grand Final. Unfortunately, we lost to KPMG who played extremely well. The tournament saw teams from a variety of accounting firms take part - Pitcher Partners, PKF, PWC, KPMG, Grant Thornton and many more!
A tasty BBQ lunch was provided between matches allowing teams a break and the chance to mingle. All in all, it was a great day! The winners and runners-up went away with trophies and bags full of Olivier goodies. We're excited about next year and looking forward to seeing all the teams again.
Christmas Event
Olivier Group were delighted to be sponsors of the combined Christmas drinks for the Sydney based members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
The event took place on Wednesday 29th November at the Roof Bar in the Sydney CBD.Guests were treated to their first drink courtesy of Olivier Group.
Guests included Committee Members, some active members, some regular supporters and some making their first appearance at a Sydney event. There was plenty of networking and catching up with old friends. Formalities were kept to a minimum.
The highlight of the evening was the lucky draw with donations from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Societe General, AMP, BDO, Horwaths, and Fossil
The Horwath prizes were of particular significance as within 24 hours the merger of BDO and Horwath in Australia was announced – their merchandise may now become collectors items!
Olivier Group donated a prized ticket to the Ashes test in Sydney. Barmy Army regulars and Kiwi cricket fanatics held their breathe as the draw took place. The winner was however a lady member of NZICA with no interest in cricket! Such is life!
Olivier group looks forward to continuing our support of the Chartered Accounting community in Sydney in 2007.
